Lets Talk About Self Tanner

Sunday, May 19, 2019

Hey Y'all!

So excited to be talking about one of my favorite beauty buys...self tanner! I am team Fake Bake all the way. Something I am super against is tanning beds and I strongly believe in protecting your skin. I wear sunscreen everyday. I'll be sure to share my favorite sunscreen products soon, but for now I wanna talk about my favorite self tanners that help me achieve that sun kissed glow!

1. Jergens Daily Moisturizer
I have been using this stuff for over 10 years. I love that it no longer has an oder- do y'all remember when that smell was potent? This is such a great daily lotion for an all over light glow- I never feel like it brings a ton of color but it does keep me from getting pasty in the winter! I sometimes use it over my other self tanners and especially on my knees and elbows.

2. Jergens Instant Sun Mousse

This was probably the first dark self tanner I  ever used. I think it does a great job for the price. The color appears really quickly in a nice deep bronze. It does show streaks easy and it doesn't last for more than a couple days. If you are looking for a more affordable option this is  great one!

3. L'orel Sublime Bronze Gelee
I am not a fan of the smell, but it dries really quickly. Beware this product will stain if you don't wash it out fast. It's a great tanner if you want something other than a mousse or a lotion based product. I do think the color leaves you with more of an orange color than a bronze.

4.St Moriz Fast Tan Mousse

This is a product I just started using in the last couple of months. It's a St. Tropez dupe you can find at Ulta or on Amazon. I think it works really well. I am a big fan of the tanners that you wash off. This one I generally put  on at night, sleep, and wash it off in the morning. The color is fantastic. It does dry fast when you are applying so make sure you smooth it in quickly! Also you HAVE to apply with a mitt. I haven't heard great things about their mitts but I use the St. Tropez mitt and it works just fine! This is a good option if you want a deep color like St Tropez but don't want to spend double the money, just apply it very evenly and you will be a bronze goddess.

5.St Tropez Self Tan Express
My favorite body self tanner. This stuff is amazing and it doesn't streak. The color is very natural and it stays on. I generally apply only once a week and the color lasts. Its pricey but it's worth it.  You apply and wait 1 to however many hours to want to let the color soak in. I generally apply at night and shower it off in the morning, also you HAVE to apply with a mitt.  The longer you wait to shower the deeper the color. St. Tropez has a great applicator mitt thats around $6. I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for that airbrush tan that they can get at home! See below for a picture of my skin 8 hours after application

6. Isle of Paradise Tanning Drops.
Run,  don't walk to your nearest Sephora for this product. I just bought this on Friday after hearing such great things about it. I am OBSESSED. I have had such a hard time finding a self tanner for my face and this product works sooo well. You  just add these liquid drops to your normal moisturizer and then mix and spread on your face or body. This color is so good y'all. I got the Dark color so I could really build my tan, I add about 5 drops to my moisturizer. Also it doesn't come off when I wash my face which I do 2x a day! Im testing to see how long it lasts but so far so great and it hasn't made me breakout! I highly highly highly recommend as a tanner but especially if you are looking to tan your face

Shop these Self Tanners Below!

-I hope you all enjoy this little self tanner review. Let me know in the comments below if you have a favorite self tanner! Now if I could only find a way to self tan the center of my back which I cant reach.......

High School Graduation Gift Guide

Tuesday, May 7, 2019

I can't believe it's May!!!! "Insert Justin Timberlake Meme here" this time of year has me very nostalgic about graduation from both high school and college. Because of this,  I wanted to share some of my favorite gifts and purchases I received/bought before heading to college. If you are headed to a graduation party check out these items below for inspiration.

1) Monogram Duffel
This is something my mom purchased for me the Christmas after I started college, and let me tell you.. I still use it all the time. Its the perfect size for a long weekend! "If its not moving, monogram it"

2) Monogram Towels
Another Monogram Item-This was one of my favorite graduation gifts and one that I plan to give any future high school graduates- a monogrammed towel in their school colors. One of my classmates purchased this for me, and I thought it was so clever and  so unique. Make sure that you pick  a pretty color for the towel and use the spirit colors for the embroidery!

3)Tervis
This is my mom'g go-to graduation present. A Tervis with their school logo and colors filled with gift cards. Its clever, useful, and simple, and everyone has been extremely grateful!

4)Hunter Boots
My biggest advice to college freshmen is INVEST IN GOOD RAIN-BOOTS. I had cheap ones my freshmen year and ...SURPRISE.. they got a hole, and nobody has time for soggy socks. My Hunters were the the best investment in my college wardrobe. Now... if you live somewhere where it doesn't rain a ton..maybe not the best, but I think this is such a great gift for someone you want to spoil!

5) Kendra Scott Elisa Necklace
Now I love my Kendra, and this piece is a staple- especially in the South. I've seen lots of people create custom pieces at Kendra in School Colors- my advice here, go with something neutral that they can wear all the time- like an opal, a drusy, or even just the plain filagree.

Shop this post below by clicking the images! I hope you find a great gift for your graduate!

Lots of love,
Rachel
